Fanfare & Canon – Cl

11.55

Clarinets (Bb) in  4 parts

Alan Bullard wrote these two short pieces in 1992 for massed clarinets in a pupils concert, but they are equally suited to a quartet of clarinets. The Fanfare gives an opportunity for all players to move together in precise rhythm: the Canon gives scope for rhythmic independence but with musical material that all players can learn together. The lowest part of the Fanfare and the optional two-part canon do not go above the break and the pieces are suitable for beginners to intermediate players.
